I have 4 drafts waiting to be finished, but it can wait…

In response to “Notes near Body Parts in Belgium Linked to Death Note” on Anime News Network.

This is the only warning you get, if you’re offended by strong language, don’t read this post because I’m about to go off.

Okay, first off, this utterly and purely pisses me off to no end, for multiple reasons. First off, what kind of sick fuck would do something like this? I mean, it makes me sick to my stomach to even begin to think that they would not only kill people, but manage to link it to a story that, the primary theme is that Kira’s actions damned him and made him no better than the people he was killing.

Secondly, this is going to cause the shit to hit the fan if this gains a lot of momentum on this side of the pond, because the racists, the close minded, and the people who refer to themselves as the “pure at heart” have been looking for a reason to boycott anime for years now. This is just their ticket and I dread where this is going.

Last, this is going to cause a huge mess for my anime club if it catches wind over here, because we’re located in the bible belt where everything besides church and God is blasphemous. We’re already fighting them bad enough and if they catch word of this? Its all over.

Now, in Death Note’s defense, I do have a few things to say. Any mentally stable adult can see that this story is fictitious and wouldn’t do anything to mimic Kira’s actions. Far from it actually, as I pointed out before, Kira’s actions did nothing but damn him to eternal suffering. This was apparent from the get-go even in the “rules of the Death Note” when Light first found it. Sadly (and I’m not saying that it is a “kid”) but this isn’t a manga/anime for children, and I’m worried now that this is due to some teenager who “identified with Light” or some load of shit like that and wasn’t developed enough mentally to handle what was happening within this manga.

Regardless, the blame falls on the killer and/or the killer’s parents, not the media which s/he by chance chose as his/her trigger to set this twisted dementia off.

All I have left to say is this, this sick fuck had best be brought to justice.
